TNTEU B.Ed Practicum

1.      Mini teaching practice and assessment formats of teaching practice minimum five lessons should be practiced.
2.      Visit to innovative schools and healthy practices (minimum three innovative practices) visit, interview and write the report.

3.      Student portfolio / CCE record

A student portfolio is a compilation of academic work and other forms of educational evidence assembled for the purpose of evaluating course quality, learning progress and academic achievement over time.
 Each student must create his/her own portfolio in the form a blog. That blog can include such as written assignments, completed tests, seminar reports, projects and other evidences of learning progress and academic accomplishments including awards, participation in cultural activities, written evaluation by teachers or peers and self-reflections.
Each student should compile, review and evaluate his/her course work over time and provide a richer, deeper and more accurate picture of what the student has learnt and is able to do at the end of the programme.

4.      Reflective Journal

What is reflective journal? a reflective journal is a tool that allows students to reflect on and write about progress in their learning.
How can a pre-service teacher use it? the pre-service teacher reflects during a lesson or self assesses at the end of a class.
He she identifies and reflects on his/her successes and challenges.
Why should the pre-service teacher use it? use the reflective journal as a tool to reflect on what has been achieved during lesson and where future efforts and support should be focused in the next session.
When can the pre-service teacher use it?at the end of each lesson.
How does the pre-service teacher use it ?in the form of a small notebook or in an electronic file.

5.      Environmental education record

Objectives of environmental education
Need and importance of protecting the environment
Save environment (protection activities)
(Guest lecture, organize promoting activities)
Removal of environmental hazards
(activities to removal environmental hazards)

6.      Community based engagement / skill development record

Need and importance of community services
Role of individual for community development/ individual development
Cooperation between individual and community
Community based engagement activities
Visits / surveys of the community and identification of the skill in the arts and crafts and small scale industries.
Discussion / interview with artisans in the community and write the report

Focus: select the content in context of its larger unit / topic
Objectives / specifications : identify state your instructional objectives. In other words, indicate what you want your students to learn or accomplish by using appropriate verbs that indicate measurable and observable objectives.
Materials (teaching aids) : identify all materials and resources that you have prepared or going to use in delivering the mini lesson.
Content outline : provide the focused content outline for presentation. In other words, identify the main teaching points in the focused content selected for presentation.
Teaching skills(extensively used by all teachers): identify the teaching skills you are going to incorporate into this mini lesson.
Instructional procedures and activities: provide a detailed discussion of the mini lesson (for 15-20 mts) using the following main headings:
Introductory activities(motivation)
Development activities(presentation, interaction, reflection).
Concluding activities(summing up, closure).
Evaluation and assessment: list how the preservice teachers(peers) will demonstrate their learning. That is, how will you know the mini lesson has been successful?

Distribute a copy of both assessment formats(skills & steps) to the preservice teachers(peers).

  2. in students portfolio/CCE record should a pre service teacher record the details of his students in his class where he is practising or create a blog of his own details. Needn't he evaluate his own students continuously & comprehensively (ie CCE)
